SE Asia: Imported Scrap Offers Range Bound; Trades Pick Up

Few bookings to Vietnam for Japanese H2 scrap were concluded at USD 287/MT CFR South Vietnam last week, while suppliers are now reportedly offering H2 at USD 285/MT CFR Vietnam.

Higher quality grades too inched down marginally, with Japanese Shin Dachi scrap being sold at USD 309/MT CFR North Vietnam. Hong Kong origin HK 50/50 was reported at around USD 287/MT CFR South Vietnam. Amid winter vacations for global yards, offers for HMS scrap remained stable on a weekly basis, with bulk vessels of US HMS 1&2 (80:20) still being offered at USD 305/MT CFR.

Indonesia - After some clarity over previously imposed regulations on imported scrap, offers to Indonesia were again witnessed in the market. PNS scrap in containers was offered at USD 310/MT and USD 320/MT in 40ft and 20ft containers respectively, CFR Jakarta. Bushelling scrap from most origins stood at USD 325-330/MT CFR levels.

Thailand - Imported HMS 1&2 offers from different origins remained range-bound at USD 270-280/MT CFR Thailand.
