Russia: Ferro Alloy Import Volume Moves Marginally Upwards in 2017

According to the Russian customs, the country has witnessed a marginal increase of 3% Y-o-Y in its Ferro Alloy imports.

In CY17, Russia imported 2.09 MnT Ferro Alloys and ores against 2.02 MnT in CY16. However, on monthly basis, it witnessed a decrease of 9% M-o-M. In Dec'17, Russia imported 0.21 MnT of Ferro Alloys and ores against 0.23 MnT in Nov'17.

On yearly basis, Manganese Ore and Chrome ore witnessed a marginal increase of 7% and 6% in CY17, while Silico Manganese imports by Russia was down by 23% during the period.

On monthly premise, Manganese Ore and Chrome Ore imports by Russia registered a decrease of 7% and 13% respectively in Dec'17 while Silico Manganese increased by 0.01 MnT during the period.

In Dec'17, South Africa surpassed Kazakhstan as the largest exporter of Ferro Alloys to Russia, exporting 0.09 MnT, while Kazakhstan exported 0.07 MnT. Kazakhstan witnessed a substantial decrease of 36% M-o-M in its Ferro Alloys exports to Russia while South Africa recorded an increase of 13% M-o-M.
