Peru, a leading producer of silver, copper, zinc, gold, tin, lead, and molybdenum, has recorded growth in production of zinc and lead, although copper production fell by 2% in July 2022.
Production dropped to 195,234 tonnes (t) in July as against 198,467 t in June.
On y-o-y basis, too, production inched down 3%, as against 190,269 t in July 2021.
Copper production in January-July this year touched 1.29 mnt, a rise of 1.4% compared to 1.27 mnt in the same period last year.
- Zinc production rise 14% in July
The country recorded a 13.90% rise in zinc production to 116,607 t in July as against 102,375 t in June.
On y-o-y basis, zinc production fell 2.9% as against 120,078 t in July 2021.
Production in January-July was at 779,521 t, a decrease of 15% compared to 913,427 t in the same period last year.
- Lead production rises nearly 5%
Peru's lead production rose 4.80% to 22,206 t in July as against 21,188 t in June.
Lead production rose marginally by 0.3% as against 22,153 t in July 2021.
Production in January-July stood at at 145,183 t, a decrease of 4.8% compared to 152,576 t in the same period last year.
