Pakistan Propose 5% Duty Cut on Aluminium Scrap

Pakistan is a developing economy in which the raise of productive capacity and increase in employment would be helpful in economic growth. As this sector helps to boost the economy, the policies regarding this sector is always under scrutiny.

Aluminium waste in Pakistan is currently subjected to 3% custom duty and 10% regulatory duty. Which is proposed to reduce it down to 5% as a relief to the industry.

Aluminium waste is the primary raw material for important industries such as automobile, electronics, utensils etc. Industrial development plays a vital role in upliftment of any economy.

USA is world's largest Aluminium scrap exporter - Aluminium scrap remains a significant resource to be used as raw material to produce secondary aluminum and subsequently new aluminum products. It is evident that the countries with higher aluminium consumption would be the countries that would also be largest generator of scrap. Since packaging and automotive scraps are recycled and recovered faster, the following countries with more aluminium consumption in these sectors remain the top exporters of scrap - United States, Germany, United Kingdom, France & Saudi Arabia.
