Odisha Auction 2020: Kaypee Thakurani Mine Fetches Premium of 72.5% in Technical Round

Odisha govt has started technical qualification round today (i.e 01st Feb 2020) for third iron ore block, out of the 19 for iron ore and Manganese ore mines which have their lease expiry on 31st March 2020.
There were six technically qualified bidders for the Thakurani iron ore mine block for which existing lessee was Kaypee enterprises. As per sources, the highest technical bid put was by Amalgam at 72.5% premium.

Kaypee Enterprises was the existing lessee of Thakurani iron ore mine block. The mine has an EC limit of 5.5 MnT pa and has exploration done upto G2 level. The mine has total geological resource of 180 MnT iron ore.
Production of iron ore from the mines was recorded at around 5.49 MnT in FY'19 and 3.735MnT in FY20 (till Nov'19).
Yesterday, JSW won Nuagaon iron ore mine block with 95.2% premium. The bidders were Rungta and sons Ltd, Vedanta Ltd, ArcelorMittal India Pvt Ltd, Adani Enterprises Limited, JSW Steel Limited, and TS Alloys Limited.
