Non-ferrous metals prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME) trended almost down on 24 April, 2023. The three-month aluminium futures contract inched down by 0.6% to $2,381/t. Zinc prices edged down by 1.8% to $2,670/t. Lead prices inched down by 0.8% to $2,143/t. Nickel prices edged up by 0.4% to $24,582/t. Copper futures inched down by 0.7% to close at $8,730/t.
UK Budget
Britain recorded a bigger-than-expected budget deficit of 21.53 billion pounds ($26.87 billion) in March, official data showed on Tuesday, capping off the fourth-highest borrowing for a financial year since records were started in 1946, as per reports.
India
Domestic finished copper prices remained stable on the last trading day. Buying enquiries were moderate despite bearish sentiments in metal indexes.
Brent oil futures was up 1.40% at $82.72 per barrel. Crude oil WTI futures were up by 0.87% to $78.54 per barrel. Prices of natural gas were recorded at $2.235/ MMBtu at the time of publishing this insight, down by 9.6% as against the last closing.
Dollar index
The dollar index, which gauges value of the greenback in a basket of six different currencies, hovered at 101,29. The index inched down by 0.06% against last session. The rupee was recorded at 81.90 against the dollar. The rupee remained almost stable against the previous closing.
