MECON invites bids for setting up Nagarnar pellet plant

State-owned National Mining Development Corporation which stands as the largest Iron Ore miner in India, as part of its downstream expansion plan has ventured into steel manufacturing by setting up a massive 3 MnTPA Steel Plant Complex at Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh and now plans to establish an ancillary 2 MnTPA capacity pellet plant to fulfill raw material demand.

The miner has invited bids through e-auction for designing, engineering, supply and installation of plant and equipment on turnkey basis for the pellet plant to be established at the Nagarnar Steel Plant complex in Chhattisgarh. The bids have been invited by the MECON Limited on behalf of NMDC in the capacity of a consultant for the entire Nagarnar Steel Plant complex project.

The scope of work under the project includes complete pellet plant including filtration unit and fuel oil facilities all other associated utilities, services, electrics, and automation, supplying & laying of 33kV cables from MRSS in NISP to Pellet Plant area and the establishment of 33/6.9kV LBSS for 2.0MnTPA Pellet Plant.
NMDC's ambitious project at Nagarnar has received statutory clearances recently and is set to be a pivotal part of the national miner's downstream integration project.

The last date for submitting bids the last date for submission of tender is on January 19, 2018 before 3 pm and the tender will be opened at 3.30 pm the same day. The pre-bid meeting would be held on January 10, 2018 at the office of MECON limited Banglore.

It may be noted here that the NMDC had conceived the downstream integration plan in 2008-09 and subsequently the work on setting up of a 3 MnTPA steel plant had commenced. When bids for allotting turnkey contracts for the integrated steel plant were invited major global companies including L&T, Siemens, SMS Siemag, etc had expressed interest.
