Maruti Suzuki sales gain by 88.2% in July
...
Maruti Suzuki posted an 88.2% m-o-m increase in total sales of 108,064 units in July 2020 as domestic demand shows an uptick on the easing of corona-virus-related restrictions.
Sales were lower by 1.1% from July 2019 levels, which puts last month's sales almost close to normal levels and could be an early sign of normalcy returning to the auto market as people gradually resume purchase of vehicles. Auto sales typically peak in October, November during the Hindu festival season.
Total sales in July 2020 include domestic sales of 100,000 units, 1,307 units manufactured for other OEMs in the domestic market and export of 6,757 units.
Automakers have been in prolonged discussions with steel makers on pricing of purchase contracts for flat steel products with automakers citing sluggish demand to press for price stability while steel producers are keen on increasing sales prices given the buoyancy in the HRC market over the past month.
Maruti has not concluded half-yearly steel pricing negotiations while other auto-makers too have yet to conclude negotiations for the Jul-Sep quarter, a person familiar with the matter told Steelmint.
