July'18: Turkey Pig iron Imports Rise After Dipping for 3 Months

Pig iron Imports in Turkey rise by 50% M-o-M in July'18 after continuous fall since Apr'18, the recent released data by Turkey's custom showed.

The nation has imported about 90,308 MT Pig iron in Jul'18, as against 63,470 MT in Jun'18. Russia remains the largest exporter to Turkey & it was noticed that, Pig iron imports from Russia rise by 53.34% & stood at 51,669 MT in Jul'18 as against 33,687 MT in Jun'18.

The key attributes shows pig iron imports incline with limited demand amid sharp devaluation of Turkish currency Lira against USD.

In the total Pig iron imports during 2018 (Jan-Jul), the major sellers of Pig iron to Turkey was - Russia (503,536 MT), Ukraine (185,507 MT), Brazil (85,227 MT), Germany (13,343 MT) & South Korea (9,000 MT).

Further, in the first seven months of CY18 (Jan-Jul), the data shows about 796,615 MT Pig iron imports, rise by around 68.5% Y-o-Y against 472,682 MT in the same preceding CY17

The crude steel output in Turkey also rise by 7.36% M-o-M & stood at 3.27 MnT during Jul'18 against 3.04 MnT in Jun'18.

The global export offers for steel grade Pig Iron are assessed at USD 380-390/MT FoB India, USD 370-380/MT FoB Black Sea & USD 390-394/MT CNF Italy (Our last assessment as on 12th July).
