JSW Steel: Iron Ore Sourcing Down 8% in July'19

JSW Steel-- India's largest steel maker total iron ore sourcing recorded at 1.89 MnT in July'19. The sourcing witnessed 8% drop M-o-M as against 2.05 MnT in June'19. On yearly basis, sourcing fell 20% in July'19 as against 2.35 MnT in July'18.
JSW Steel imports recorded nil for the month
JSW Steel imports witnessed nil for second consecutive month in July'19. The miner reduced imports for the month amid rise in global iron ore prices. The prices were hovering at five years high levels at USD 126/MT, CFR China towards early July'19. Average global iron ore fines prices witnessed rise to USD 120/MT, CFR China as against USD 108/MT, CFR China in June'19.
Sourcing from Odisha down 9% in July'19
The steelmaker procured 0.25 MnT iron ore from Odisha based miners in July'19, down as compared to 0.28 MnT in June'19. Due to seasonal effect (monsoon) the iron ore sourcing from Odisha fell for the month.
Sourcing from NMDC (C.G.) fell marginally in July'19
JSW Steel (Dolvi) sourcing from NMDC recorded at 0.14 MnT in July'19, down marginally as against sourcing in June'19.
NMDC Donimalai mine is set to resume operations shortly, after the closure of the mine for more than eight months. Last month Karnataka High Court in its final judgment on Donimalai lease renewal case gave judgment in favor of NMDC thus need not pay a premium for a mining lease.
JSW iron ore purchases from Karnataka e-auction down 8% in July'19
JSW Steel's iron ore purchases from Karnataka e-auctions decreased 8% to 1.50 MnT in July'19 compared to 1.63 MnT in June'19.
Out of 1.49 MnT iron ore sourced by JSW, NMDC supplied 0.64 MnT down by 14% against 0. 75 MnT last month. Company's iron ore sourcing from private mines was down to 0.85 MnT in Jul'19 as against 0.88 MnT in Jun'19.
Narayan Mines Private Limited remained second-largest iron ore supplier to JSW Steel at 0.19 MnT in Jul'19, followed by Vedanta Ltd. at 0.16 MnT.
