JSW Steel: Iron Ore Sourcing Down 11% in Aug'19

JSW Steel-- India's largest steel maker total iron ore sourcing recorded at 1.69 MnT in Aug'19. The sourcing witnessed 11% drop M-o-M as against 1.89 MnT in July'19. On yearly basis, sourcing fell 38% in Aug'19 as against 2.72 MnT in Aug'18.
JSW Steel imports recorded nil for the month
JSW Steel imports witnessed nil for third consecutive month in July'19. Indian iron ore imports have witnessed nil amid high global iron ore prices. Monthly average global iron ore fines (Fe 62%) prices in Aug'19 witnessed at USD 92/MT, CFR China.
Sourcing from Odisha up 18% in Aug'19
The steelmaker procured 0.30 MnT iron ore from Odisha based miners in Aug'19, up as compared to 0.25 MnT in July'19. Sourcing from Odisha increased amid price cut by the odisha merchant miner due to fall in the semi-finished prices.
Sourcing from NMDC (C.G.) fell sharply in Aug'19 amid monsoon
JSW Steel (Dolvi) sourcing from NMDC recorded at 0.05 MnT in Aug'19, down sharply by 64% against 0.14 MnT a month before.
NMDC (Chhattisgarh) supplied total of 169 rakes (0.65 MnT) of iron ore in the month of Aug'19, down 24% against 222 rakes (0.85 MnT) a month before in Jul'19, according to railway movement data maintained with SteelMint. Amid heavy rains, miner's iron ore production and dispatches were learned to have remained adversely impacted.
JSW iron ore purchases from Karnataka e-auction down 11% in Aug'19
JSW Steel's iron ore purchases from Karnataka e-auctions decreased by 11% to 1.34 MnT in Aug'19 compared to 1.49 MnT in Jul'19.
Out of 1.34 MnT iron ore sourced by JSW, Vedanta supplied 0.52 MnT increased sharply by more than three-times against 0.16MnT last month and thus contributed around 41% of total JSW sourcing.
NMDC was the second-largest iron ore supplier with 0.44 MnT down 32% as against 0.64 MnT last month. Company's iron ore sourcing from other private mines stood at 0.38 MnT.
