JSW Increased Long Steel Output by 19% in Q3 FY18

JSW Steel has reported highest ever quarterly crude steel output at 4.11 MnT in Q3 FY18.
JSW Steel - India's largest steel maker reported significant increase in its crude steel output by 6.4% on yearly basis to 4.11 MnT in Q3 FY18 as compared to 3.86 MnT in Q3FY17. On quarterly basis company's crude steel production moved up by 4.3% in Q3 FY18 against previous quarter. In Q2 FY18 the same stood at 3.94 MnT .
Long steel output up significantly by 18% Y-o-Y basis - JSW Steel's long steel production stood at 0.88 MnT, shoot up by 18.9% Y-o-Y basis in Q3 FY18 in comparison to 0.74 MnT in Q3FY17. Also on quarterly basis JSW Steel's long steel output surged up by 14.2% in Q3 FY18 against 0.77 MnT in preceding quarter.
Flat steel production fell marginally by 1% Y-o-Y in Q3 FY18 - JSW Steel's flat steel output registered marginal fall of 1% to 2.82 MnT in Q3FY18 which was at 2.83 MnT in Q3FY17.However on quarterly basis, company's flat steel output witnessed marginal decline of 2.4% against 2.89 MnT in Q2 FY18.
As per reports, JSW Steel is seeing pick up in demand for long steel used in the construction sector. "Since November, we have seen a sudden pick-up in the demand for TMT bars - used in every construction activity," Mr Seshagiri Rao, Joint Managing Director and Group CFO of JSW Steel.
Price gap between domestic Rebar & HRC prices have narrowed down in past few months. Price difference between HRC & Rebar in Mumbai have come down to around INR 4,000/MT which was INR 8,400/MT three months ago.
