Japan: Tokyo Steel Cuts Scrap Purchase Price by USD 5

Japan's leading EAF mini-mill, Tokyo Steel has lowered its scrap purchase price by JPY 500/MT (USD 5) at all of its 5 works, as per the latest price circular. The new prices for all grades shall be effective from tomorrow (28th March'20).
It is after a gap of almost 4 weeks that the company has cut its price at all five of its plants, as during this period only Kyushu works' price was being revised.
After the said price cut, the company will pay JPY 20,000 /MT (USD 184) for H2 scrap delivered at the Tahara plant in the central region, while for Okayama plant the price set at JPY 18500/MT (USD 170).
For H2 delivered to Kyushu works in the western region and Takamatsu Steel Center the new price will be JPY 17,500 /MT (USD 161) and JPY 19,000/MT (USD 175) for Utsunomiya works located in the Kanto region.
On the other hand, Hyundai steel lowered its scrap purchase price for Japanese scrap this week. Currently, the bid price stands at JPY 21000/MT (USD 190) FOB Japan.
