Japan: Tokyo Steel Cuts Scrap Purchase Price At Tahara Plant

As per new price circular released, Japan's leading EAF mini-mill - Tokyo Steel has lowered its scrap purchase price at its Tahara Plant, by JPY 500/MT (USD 5), while keeping its bids at the other 4 plants unchanged for now. The new prices for all grades shall be effective from tomorrow (19th Oct'19).
After the said price cut, the company will pay JPY 22,000/MT (USD 203) for H2 scrap delivered at its Tahara plant in Central Japan. The price for H2 delivery to Utsunomiya plant in Kanto region and Kyushu works in the western region remain at 22,500/MT (USD 207) and 23,000/MT (USD 212) respectively while H2 bids for Okayama plant and Takamatsu steel centre stand at JPY 20,500/MT (USD 189) and JPY 19,500/MT (USD 180) respectively.
This is the 3rd price cut made by the company in Oct'19. Following the continuous decline in domestic prices, the export offers have also remained in a downtrend. This month's Kanto Tetsugen tender's winning bid fell sharply by JPY 2,556/MT (USD 24) M-o-M, while the Kansai tender's bids have fallen by a total of JPY 1220/MT in 2 successive tenders in Oct'19.
