Japan Steel Trade Statistics: Feb'20

Japan's import for Coal, Ferro alloys & Finished Steel declined in Feb'20, while for iron ore inched up, as per the custom data maintained with SteelMint.

-- Coal imports declined by 13.8% to 14.82 MnT in Feb'20 against 17.2 MnT in Jan'20. While on a yearly basis, it's almost remain stable in Feb'20 as compared to 14.89 MnT in Feb'19.

-- Iron ore imports were registered at 9.51 MnT in Feb'20 up by 5.2% M-o-M against 9.04 MnT in Jan'20. However on yearly comparison its marginal declined by 2.2% in Feb'20 against 9.72 MnT in Feb'19.

-- Finish long steel imports registered at 0.04 MnT in Feb'20 lessened by 20% M-o-M & Y-o-Y against 0.05 MnT in Jan'20 & Feb'19.

-- Finish long stainless steel imports were registered at 1,087 MT in Feb'20 drifted down by 35% against 1,671 MT in Jan'20. Similarly on a yearly basis, imports down by 6.32% in Feb'20 as compared to 1,160 MT in Feb'19.

-- Finish flat steel imports registered at 0.32 MnT in Feb'20, down by 11% against 0.36 MnT in Jan'20. Also on Y-o-Y comparison, plunged by around 24% in Feb'20 against 0.42 MnT in Feb'19.

-- Finish flat stainless steel registered at 17,336 MT in Feb'20 inch down by around 2% against 17,680 MT in Jan'20. However, on a yearly basis, imports volume up by 10% in Feb'20 compared to 15,747 MT in Feb'19.

-- Ferro alloy imports in Feb'20 stood at 0.21 MnT down by 22% M-o-M against 0.27 MnT in Jan'20. Also on a yearly basis, the same dropped by 8.7% in Feb'20 against 0.23 MnT in Feb'19.
