Japanese Raw material imports fell, whereas finished steel imports surged M-o-M in Nov'19, as per the custom data maintained with SteelMint.
Coal imports by Japan remained almost stable in the month during Nov'19 but exhibited drastic fall from the levels attained in the year-ago, weighted down by a lower receipt of coking coal shipments.
Data provided by Japanese customs indicate that the country's coal intake stood 16.01 MnT in Nov'19 as against 15.95 MnT in Oct'19, which was marked 11% lower in the year from 18.07 MnT in Nov'18.
Japan had managed to put an end to the series of decline seen in non-coking coal imports, which increased 5% in the month to 10.84 MnT in Nov'19. However, the country's coking coal intake was down 9% M-o-M to 3.66 MnT in Nov'19, also receding 16% Y-o-Y from 4.38 MnT in Nov'18.
Iron Ore- On a monthly basis, the country's iron ore imports registered at 10.03 MnT in Nov'19, down by 1.18% as compared to 10.15 MnT in Oct'19, while on a yearly basis, imports dropped by 5.38% in Nov'19 as against 10.6 MnT in Nov'18.
Finish Long Steel imported by Japan on monthly basis remained 0.07 MnT in Nov'19 up by 16.7% as compared to 0.06 MnT in Oct'19 and on yearly basis, imports surged by 40% in Nov'19 against 0.05 MnT in Nov'18.
Finish Long Stainless Steel imported by Japan on monthly basis registered at 1,596 MT in Nov'19 down by 9.8% as against 1,771 MT in Oct'19 and on yearly basis, imports plunged by 26.7% in Nov'19 as compared to 2,179 MT in Nov'18.
Finish Flat Steel- Japan imported finish flat steel at 0.42 MnT in Nov'19, which moved up by 7.7% as against 0.39 MnT in Oct'19, while on a yearly comparison, the country's flat steel imports increased by 10.52% in Nov'19 as against 0.38 MnT in Nov'18.
Finish Flat Stainless Steel imports by the country M-o-M were 14,096 MT in Nov'19, plunged by 22.8% as against 18,269 MT in Oct'19 and on a yearly basis, imports down by 10.6% Nov'19 as compared to 15,762 MT in Nov'18.
Ferro Alloy- Country's Ferro alloy imports on monthly basis registered at 0.15 MnT in Nov'19, down by 53.1% as against 0.32 MnT in Oct'19, and Y-o-Y basis, ferro alloy imports dropped by 6.25% in Nov'19 as against 0.16 MnT in Nov'18.
