Japan, one of the world's leading metals exporters, recently released its stainless-steel export data, which showed that total stainless steel (finished flats and longs) shipments stood at 50,532 t in October 2022 compared to 44,232 t in September - up 14% on month.
Stainless steel flats exports improve
Finished stainless steel flats exports stood at 38,445 t in October, an increase of 11% m-o-m against 34,589 t in the previous month. However, on yearly basis, total exports declined by almost 12% from 43,663 t in the same period last year.
India remained the prominent destination, with around 8,430 t in the month under review, while China's shipments were 7,733 t.
Stainless steel longs exports rise
Finished stainless longs exports stood at 12,087 t in October, a significant rise of 25% m-o-m against 9,643 t in the previous month. However, on yearly basis, total exports fell by 4% from 12,650 t in the same period last year.
China was the largest importer at 4,886 t, followed by Thailand and South Korea at 2,315 t and 1,703 t, respectively.
