Japan: Nippon Announces Integration and Re-organisation of its Steel Works

Nippon Steel, a major steel producing company of Japan is going to integrate and reorganize its different units into four steel works by 01 Apr'20. As per the press release issued by the Nippon Steel Corporation, the restructuring of these units is being carried out as a part of organizational and operational review.

-- The Kashima Works, Kimitsu Works, Kamaishi Works of Bar and Wire Rods Unit and Naoetsu Works of Titanium Unit will be integrated as East Japan Works.

--The Kansai Works will be integrated and reorganised with the Wakayama works, Amagasaki works of Pipe and Tube Unit and Osaka Steel Works of Railway, Automative and Machinery parts Unit.

--The Kure Works, Sakai Works, Toyo Works and Osaka Works of Nippon Steel Nisshin Co., Ltd will be integrated with the Hirohata Works and reorganised as the Setouchi Works.

--The Yawata Works, Oita Works and Hikari ,Titanium Production Division of the Titanium Unit will be integrated and reorganised as Kyushu Works.

The Muraon Works of the Bar and Wire Rod Unit will be renamed as the Muraon Works.

These organizational and operational changes are made to advance manufacturing capabilities, enhance autonomy and workplace efficiency and boost up the competitiveness of steelmaking business and gain the trust of the customers and stakeholders.
