ISA Steel Conclave : 'Make in India' to Keep Indian Steel Demand Supported

In a move to bring the steel market influencers together to discuss mutual issues and take the national steel agenda forward, Indian Steel Association is conducting has the second edition of ISA Steel Conclave from 21 - 22 November, 2019 in Delhi. The second edition is being organized by ISA in association.

The two-day conclave is focused on the theme of Indian and global perspectives of the steel Industry.

Hon'ble Union Minister, Ministry of Steel, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Government of India was the Chief Guest and inaugurate the event together with Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste, Hon'ble Union Minister of State, Ministry of Steel, Government of India as the Guest of Honour.

Industry giants like Mr. Sajjan Jindal, Chairman, JSW Group, Mr. Anil Kumar Chaudhary, Chairman, Steel Authority of India Limited, Mr. Naveen Jindal, Chairman, Jindal Steel and Power Limited, Mr. Dilip Oommen, Managing Director, Essar Steel India Limited, Mr. Pradosh Kumar Rath, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd., and Mr. Rajeev Singhal, Managing Director, Tata Steel BSL addressed the event,

Mr Dharmendra Pradhan shared that plan for equity dilution of state owned steel mills like SAIL, RINL. has been approved by PMO and this is likely to bring more professionalism in the units

Also he shared that govt working on plans how EC & FC can be easily transferred to news lessee.

Mr Sajjan Jindal highlighted that Indian steel makers should diversify their portfolio of buying coking coal (from Russia & Mangolia) apart from being dependent on Australian origin

We should promote setting up of steel manufacturing equipment companies to be set up in India to promote 'Make in India', he added.

Mr Naveen Jindal suggested that anomalies to be removed in order to make industry competitive. Royalties & duties structure on Indian iron ore should be worked on as these are very high compared to other countries like Australia where it's just around 7%

Mr Anil Chaudhary stressed on importance of lowering steel production cost in India to become competitive with other major global countries.
