Iran's steel exports, after getting impacted by Covid and export regulations, have seen an increase this year with the facilitation of export regulations.
The export volumes of billets and blooms in the first four months of this Persian Year stood at 1.69 million tonnes (mn t), up by 26% compared to the corresponding period last year (CPLY).
The volumes of slab exports were reported to be at 0.84 mn t in the first four months of this year, witnessing a huge growth of 161% as against CPLY.
Finished steel exports up
Among finished steel products, the share of exports of long steel sections stood at 0.98 mn t in the first four months of this year, increasing by 101% as against the same period last year. Out of this, rebar occupied the largest share at 0.87 mn t, up 114% y-o-y.
Exports of flat steel products increased by a whopping 123% in the first four months of this year, touching 0.18 mn t. Out of this, hot rolled coils (HRCs) occupied the largest share at 0.14 mn t, up 193% y-o-y.
Short-term outlook
Steel export shipments in July-Aug'21 are likely to witness a decline amid power outages which kept mills away from concluding deals.
