Iranian Billet Export Increases by 35% in Current Persian Year

Iran-one of the largest billet exporter in MENA region has exported 1,266,000 MT billet and bloom during the first four months of current Persian year (21-Mar till 22-Jul'18). As per the data released by ISPA, export of billet during the period was reportedly up by 35% Y-o-Y against 939,000 MT during the same period of last Persian year.

1 - Khouzastan Steel Company (KSC) was the largest exporter of billet and bloom during the period, the company exported 553,550 MT in current year, registered a downfall of 14% Y-o-Y against 642,206 MT exported in last Persian year.

2 - South Kaveh Steel Company (SKSCO) was the second largest exporter of billet, the company exported 303,000 MT billet during the period, registered a growth of 63% Y-o-Y against 185,890 MT exported in last Persian year.

3 - Khorasan Steel was the third largest exporter of bloom, the company exported 46,874 MT during the period.

However with US imposing sanctions against Iran, many of the steel importers has restricted import of steel from Iran. It is expected that trade may suffer in coming months resulting in reduction in export volumes.

Iranian Slab Export Increases by 2%

Iran, the major exporter of slab exported 1,221,000 MT during the 4 months of current Persian year, registered an increase of 2% Y-o-Y against 1,199,000 MT.

1 - Khouzastan Steel Company (KSC) was the largest exporter of slab during the period, the company exported 405,458 MT slab in current Persian year, registered a growth of 42% Y-o-Y against 285,534 MT exported in last Persian year.

2 - Hormozgan Steel Company (HOSCO), a subsidiary of MSC, has exported 373,549 MT slab during the period, exports were up by 5% against 355,761 MT.

3 - Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC) exported 212,018 MT slab, registered a growth of 18% against 179,676 MT exported in last year.

Iranian DRI Export Decreases by 6%

Iran exported 285,000 MT DRI during the 4 months of current Persian year, registering a downfall of 6% against 304,000 MT exported in last Persian year.

The government has banned the export of direct-reduced iron to increase supply to local downstream plants. According to the directive, all producers are now required to first offer their commodities on Iran Mercantile Exchange at predetermined prices before they export. They can only export their goods, if there is zero demand for it at IME.
