Iran: Steel exports fall, production rises during the first seven months of current Persian Year, on y-o-y basis

Iranian steel exports during the first seven months of the current Iranian Year (20 Mar-20 Oct'20) stood at 4.53 mn t, registering a y-o-y decline of 23.5%. The semi-finished steel exports recorded at 3.19 mn t, down by 16% y-o-y, while finished steel exports have seen at 1.34 mn t, down by 37% y-o-y.

Commodity-wise production and export figures for Mar-Oct'20

With 877,613 t of steel exports, Khouzestan Steel Company (KSC) continued to remain the country's largest exporter. However, the company's shipment saw a y-o-y decline of 19%. The KSC was followed by Esfahan Steel Company (ESCO) and Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC) with 550,906 t (down by 19%) and 479,804 t (down by 48%) of exports, respectively.

Finished steel production up 9% y-o-y -On the other hand, the country's finished steel production increased 9% y-o-y to 12.79 mn t in 7M of the current Persian year. Semi-finished steel output accounted for around 17 mn t, up 6% y-o-y. With ~6 mn t of semi-finished steel production and 4.81 mn t of finished steel production, MSC stood as Iran's largest steel producer during the period under review.
