Iran Slab Export Increased by 188% Y-o-Y

Slab export increased by 188%, Billet export increased by 28% and DRI export increased by around 500% in first 7 months of current Persian year (21 Mar-22 October, 2017).
According to the data released by Iran Steel Producer Association (ISPA) and report prepared by Chilan Online, Iran semi-finished steel export increased significantly by around 76% Y-o-Y. Individually, Iran exported around 1.8 MnT of Billet and Bloom in current Persian year registered a growth of 28 % Y-o-Y. Slab export from Iran witnessed a growth of around 188% Y-o-Y, the nation exported around 1.72 MnT of Slab in current year against 0.60 MnT exported in last Persian Year.
The main reason for growth in semi finished export is high demand of billet and slab in global market. According to Planner, KSC and HOSCO are the major producers of Slab in Iran and they were selling to MSC in domestic market. But MSC has started fulfilling its demand in-house due to which KSC and HOSCO are allocating a lot for export.
It is forecasted that Iran will be next China in Billet and Slab industry.
Iran exported around 0.47 MnT of DRI in current Persian year, registered a growth of around 500% Y-o-Y against 0.07 MnT exported in previous Persian year.
Iran exported around 0.70 MnT of finished steel during the first 7 months of current Persian year registered a downfall of 47% Y-o-Y against 1.30 MnT exported in last year.
EU imposed anti dumping on Iranian flat steel since October 2017, it affected export of HRC and CRC in EU region. Also, as per market sources Government has asked MSC to focus on meeting the domestic demand of flat product in Iran.
