Iran: Rouhina Steel to Start Production at Phase II Expansion by Next Year

Iran, one of the major steel producer in MENA region is currently facing economic sanctions from US. Iranian law makers are focusing to fulfill the steel demand of the nation from domestic market instead of importing steel from other nation. Also steel exporters are instructed to supply and fulfill the domestic demand on priority before exporting it to other nations.
Iranian steelmakers are bullish to fulfill their vision 2025 of 55 MnT crude steel production, owing to which nation is coming with many capacity expansion projects. Recently Mohammad Jabrian, Chairman of Ruhina Steel Complex, announced "Rouhina Steel to Start Production at Phase II Expansion by next year".
It is to be noted that Rouhina steel company is coming up with a capacity expansion of 450,000 MT billet manufacturing unit and 450,000 MT of rebar manufacturing unit which will be operational most likely in next year.
Rouhina steel company with a current capacity of 500,000 MT rolling mill, produced 140,000 MT rebar in the first six months current Persian year. He added, "In the first half of the year, we could have more production, but because of the truck strikes twice this year and lack of raw material availability the plant was shut down for nearly a month and production was reduced."
Mr. Jabrian continued, "The second phase of the plant will be operational early next year. The equipment of the second phase of the plant has been almost imported, the sanctions won't be a problem for the factory, but it might be problematic for the subsidiary plants like oxygen plant etc. "
Shahrood Steel Complex Capacity Expansion Plan
Recently, Mr. Reza Rahmani, Minister of Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade, inaugurated Shahrood Steel Complex in Semnan region of Iran. According to Mr. Reza Rahmani, "the factory is scheduled to produce 150,000 MT of finished long steel annually and 150,000 MT of semi-finished steel. The melting plant is constructed with two melting and rolling sections."
