Iran's pellets production from its major steel mills in the first quarter (Mar-Jun'21)) of the Iranian year amounted to 12.65 million tonnes (mn t), showing a growth of 11% compared to the same period in the previous year.
Top producers
Golgohar was again the largest pellets producer with 3.24 mn t, up 5% y-o-y, followed by Mobarakeh Steel Company with 1.99 mn t (up 4% y-o-y). MIDHCO came third with 1.71 mn t - the volume remained unchanged y-o-y. Khouzestan Steel Company was at fourth place, with 1.57 mn t (down 3% y-o-y) followed by Khorasan Steel Company with 1.11 mn t (up 65% y-o-y).
Other major pellet producers included Opal Parsian Sangan with 1.04 mn t, up 28% y-o-y, and Chadormalu with 690,000 t (down 21% y-o-y).
Khorasan Steel Company registered the largest growth of 65% in pellets output during the above-mentioned period, compared with the same period last year.
Jun'21 pellet production almost flat
Pellet production witnessed a marginal 1% y-o-y increase during Jun'21, the third month of the Iranian year, to 4.13 mn t, as per data from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation (IMIDRO).
