Iran: Mobarakeh Steel Company Produces Nation's First 250 mm Slab
...
Mobarakeh Steel Company, one of the largest steel producer and exporter of Iran has exported 203,128 MT steel during the second month of current Persian year. Recently the company has manufactured nation's first 250 mm slab on the request of Oxin Steel.
According to Mohammad Reza Banayan Mofrad, Director of the MSC's steel mill and continuous casting department "the production of this was commissioned by Oxin Steel Company. Specific measures in the metallurgical unit, methods of production and its approval in the steelmaking area were taken to create the conditions for the production of this grade."
In describing some of these measures, he said that in order to produce this grade, the primary melting in the electric arc furnaces should be sent continuously after the process of the secondary metallurgical units (LF) and the sulfur dioxide (DS) and degassing (RH) process.
The secondary metallurgical unit needed about 5 MT of additives and ferroalloys and elements such as Molybdenum (MO) - Titanium (Ti) - Niobium (Nb) - Vanadium (V) - Chromium (Cr). Carbon, Sulfur and Hydrogen were controlled and at the end of the operation, calcium treatment was applied to the melt.
The director added "for the production of slabs with a thickness of 250 mm, certain changes were made to the casting machine. Some of these changes includes replacing the thickness from 200 to 250 mm, changing the gap of all rollers from the beginning to the end of the machine and also the preparation and formulation of instructions and tables. Speed and cooling systems for slab control was also modified. Around 500 MT slab of were produced at the request of Oxin Steel.
