Iran Iron Ore Exports Down 62% in Apr'17

Trade statistics released by one of the largest iron ore exporters Iran customs show that the iron ore exports from the country have seen a sharp decrease of 62% M-o-M. The country exported around 0.99 MnT iron ore in Apr'17 against 2.59 MnT in Mar'17.
Exports have dropped by 11% Y-o-Y as in Apr'16; the country exported 1.11 MnT iron ore. Iran follows April to March as its financial year. The country exported 21.19 MnT iron ore in FY17.
The export of Fines and Lumps that have more than 40% purity were registered at 0.94 MnT in Apr'17 down 62% M-o-M and 13% Y-o-Y compared to Apr'16 which stood at 2.49 MnT in Mar'17 and 1.08 MnT in Apr'16.
The export of Fines and Lumps that have less than 40% purity were registered at 0.05 MnT in Apr'17 down 35% M-o-M but 99% up Y-o-Y compared to Apr'16 which stood at 0.08 MnT in Mar'17 and 0.03 MnT in Apr'16.
Iran chiefly exports the iron ore to China, Iraq, Turkmenistan and UAE. China being the largest buyer with 0.98 MnT material in April'17 and with the quantity of 8.19 MnT in 2017 out of total quantity of 8.35 MnT iron ore exports in CY17 by Iran.
