Iran: Iron ore concentrate output increases 6% on year in first four months of Islamic year

Iron ore concentrates and granulated iron ore production in Iran during the first four months of the Persian Year (21 Mar-22 Jul) of FY'22 recorded a growth of 6%compared to the corresponding period last year, latest data released by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) shows.

As the IMIDRO report considers only the output data of major producers in Iran the overall production figure is higher.

Leading producers

A total of 17.04 mn t of iron ore concentrates were produced during the first four months of the Islamic year. Golgohar Mining and Industrial Complex, the leading producer of iron ore and pellets in Iran, had the highest share of the output with total production of 5.8 mn t.

A front-ranking iron ore concentrate producer in the Middle East, Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Complex came next with 4.12 mn t followed by Middle East Mines and Mining Industries Development Holding Company with 2.08 mn t. Goharzamin Iron Ore Company produced 1.53 mn t of concentrates during the period under review.

Other major producers included the Iran Central Iron Ore Company with 1.29 mn t, Sanabad Development Company with 669,387 t, Opal Parsian Sangan with 659,628 t, Sabanour Mining and Industrial Development Company with 428,034 t, Jalalabad Iron Ore Complex with 175,214 t and Sangan Mineral and Industrial Company with 278,351 t.

However, iron ore concentrate output during the fourth Iranian month (22 Jun-22-Jul) stood at 3.35 mn t, registering a 19% decline in comparison with the same period of last year.

Granulated ore output slumps, y-o-y

A total of 378,198 t of granulated iron ore was produced by the major producers during the four-month period, registering a 6% decline year-on-year.

Granulated iron ore output stood at 147,310 t in the fourth month (22 Jun-22-Jul) of the current fiscal, which is 24% higher than the corresponding period of last year.
