Iran's finished steel exports in the first three months of the current Persian year (21 March-20 June, 2023) stood at 856,000 tonnes (t), registering a significant 34% rise compared to the same period last year, according to data from Petrometals.
- Exports of long products were recorded at 726,000 t, a y-o-y increase of 34%, while flat product exports rose 31% y-o-y to 130,000 t.
- Exports of semi-finished steel products totalled 2.10 million tonnes (mnt), a marginal increase of 7% y-o-y.
- Meanwhile, direct reduced iron (DRI) exports surged 278% y-o-y to 363,000 t.
Outlook
Iran's steel export volumes may drop as trade activities have been limited owing to less billet export offers from mills and bearish sentiments in key importing nations.
