Iran's finished steel exports in the first month of the current Persian year (21 March-20 April, 2023) stood at 0.22 million tonnes (mnt), registering a 22% rise compared to the same period last year, according to data from Petrometals.
- Exports of long products were recorded at 0.18 mnt, a y-o-y increase of 16%, while flat product exports surged 56% y-o-y to 0.04 mnt.
- Exports of semi-finished steel products totalled 0.63 mnt, a marginal decrease of 1% y-o-y.
- Direct reduced iron (DRI) export volumes were recorded at 0.05 mnt.
Outlook
Iran's steel export volumes might witness a downfall as trade activities have been limited owing to the bid-offer disparity in the market. In addition, recent tenders floated for billet exports fetched limited responses and low bids.
