Iran's finished steel exports in the first five months of the current Persian year (21 March-20 August, 2023) stood at 1.39 million tonnes (mnt), registering a 16% growth compared to the same period last year, according to data from Petrometals.
- Exports of long products were recorded at 1.19 mnt, a y-o-y increase of 14%, while flat product exports rose 31% y-o-y to 196,000 tonnes (t).
- Exports of semi-finished steel products totalled 3.09 mnt, a rise of 29% y-o-y.
- Meanwhile, direct reduced iron (DRI) exports surged 225% y-o-y to 709,000 t.
Outlook
Iran's steel exports are expected to remain supported after the abolition of steel export duties by the government.
