Iran's finished steel exports in the first ten months of the current Persian year (March 2022-January 2023) stood at 2.68 million tonnes (mnt), registering a 2% fall compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).
- Exports of long products were recorded at 2.33 mnt, a y-o-y increase of 4%, while flat product exports fell by 28% y-o-y to 0.35 mnt.
- Exports of billets and blooms totalled 4.36 mnt, up by 11% y-o-y.
- Slab export volumes were recorded at 1.38 mnt, a decrease of 27% compared to the same period last year.
Outlook
Iran's steel exports market is expected to remain under pressure as a reduction in gas supplies during harsh winter may result in a decline in production levels.
