Iran: DRI Production Increases by 20% in Current Persian Year - ISPA

Iran, one of the largest DRI producer in world has produced 19,826,000 MT DRI during the first nine months of Persian year (21 Mar-21 Dec'18) as per the data released by ISPA. The nation reportedly witnessed a growth of 20% Y-o-Y in production of DRI against 16,539,000 MT produced in last year.

Major DRI producers during the period were

Mobarekah Steel was by far the largest manufacture of DRI in Iran during the current Persian year, the company produced 5,477,194 MT DRI. Production was down by 2% Y-o-Y during the period.

Khouzestan Steel was the second largest DRI producer during the current Persian year. The company produced 2,786,367 MT DRI in current year by registering a downfall of 10% Y-o-Y.

Other major producers includes HOSCO (1,279,409 MT), South Kaveh Steel (1,169,812 MT), Gol Gohar (1,093,921 MT), Khorasan Steel (972,737 MT) and Saba Steel (938,187 MT).

Billet and Bloom Production Increases by 23% Y-o-Y

Iran produced 10,470,000 MT of billet and bloom in first nine months of current Persian year. Production was up by 23% Y-o-Y against 8,531,000 MT produced by nation in last year.

Khouzestan Steel Company was the largest producer of billet and bloom in current Persian year, the company produced 1,754,038 MT of billet and bloom during the period, registered a downfall of 2% Y-o-Y.

Esfahan Steel Company was the second largest producer of billet and bloom in current Persian year. The company produced 1,689,215 MT bloom in current Persian year, by registering a growth of 1% Y-o-Y.

South Kaveh Steel was the third largest producer of billet and bloom, followed by Khorasan Steel and Chadormalu with production of 771,358 MT, 755,241 MT and 658,473 MT.

Iran Slab Production by Major Companies Increases by 9% Y-o-Y

Iran produced 8,239,000 MT of slab during the current Persian year, the nation reportedly produced 9% more than last Persian year which was noted to be 7,542,000 MT.

Mobarekah Steel Company was the largest producer of Slab during the current Persian year. The company produced 5,031,315 MT during the period, registered a growth of 3% Y-o-Y.

Hormozgan Steel, a subsidiary of MSC, was the second largest producer of slab in current Persian year. The company produced 1,088,044 MT during the period, registered a growth of 5% Y-o-Y.

Khouzestan Steel was the third largest producer of slab in the nation during the period. The company produced 1,085,680 MT of slab in current Persian year, registered a growth of 6% Y-o-Y.

Saba Steel produced 951,673 MT slab with growth of 78% Y-o-Y.
