Outlook

There have been rumours about Indonesia banning coal exports to boost local industries, but these are unlikely to be true, say market experts. Talks started after a conference suggested restricting coal and other resources to attract investments. However, miners dismissed the idea, noting Indonesia's strong coal trade and China being a key buyer. Experts also note that imposing restrictions during President Prabowo's visit to China could strain relations. Additionally, requiring coal washing before export is unlikely to happen due to cost concerns.
