Indonesia's Dexin Steel successfully hoisted the 1,780 cubic metre-blast furnace hot blast enclosure pipe into place on 24 September, 2022.
This hot blast pipe has an annular diameter of 18.4 metres, a central elevation of 18.85 metres, and a total weight of 54 tonnes of surrounding pipes and platform supports.
The hot blast enclosure pipe was assembled in Tianjin Port in early June this year, and took more than three months to reach Morowali Regency in Indonesia's Central Sulawesi Province.
The successful hoisting of the blast furnace No. 3 hot blast pipe not only provided important conditions to shift from furnace shell construction to furnace body frame installation, but also a strong guarantee for promoting the overall construction process of the project.
Dexin Steel began its phase-I of capacity expansion to 6 million tonnes (mnt) with the new blast furnace No.3 on 18 January. China-based Metallurgical Group Nanjing Company is investing in this project.
