Indian Railways Extend Exemption in Demurrage and Wharfage Charges Till 3 May'20

The Ministry of Railways (Govt of India) today announced that it has decided to extend the dispensation in demurrage and wharfage rules till 3 May'20.

In its previous circular released on 27 Mar, the ministry had said that considering coronavirus spread as a natural calamity, the period between 22 Mar'20 to 14 Apr'20 shall be treated under 'force majeure' and during this period, various freight charges, including demurrage, wharfage, stacking, stabling, detention and ground usage charges shall not be levied.

With this new circular, the period of Force Majeure has been further extended to 3 May'20.
