Indian Pellet Exports Recorded at 2.9 MnT in Q1 FY20

According to data maintained with SteelMint, Indian pellet export volumes for Q1 FY20 have been recorded at 2.99 MnT, almost in line with last quarter which was recorded at 2.95 MnT.

On monthly basis, exports fell 26% to 0.87 MnT in June'19 as against 1.18 MnT a month ago.

Indian pellet exports to China down 10% in Q1 FY20

China continued to remain the largest importer of Indian pellets for the quarter Q1FY20 at 1.88 MnT, down 10% as compared to 2.08 MnT in previous quarter. Turkey stood second largest importer at 0.12 MnT followed by Oman and South Africa at 0.11 MnT each.
Indian pellet exports to non-Chinese market picked up for the quarter. Exports to Greece, UAE, Netherland and Japan picked up for the quarter against being nil in Q4 FY19.

Chinese demand of Indian pellets softened during the quarter. Steel mills in China increased dependency on domestic pellets, low grade fines for cost effectiveness.

BRPL remains the largest Indian pellet exporter in Q1FY'20

BRPL stood the largest pellet exporter in Q1 FY'20 with exports at 0.59 MnT. KIOCL stood second largest exporter at 0.56 MnT (stable Q-o-Q).
JSPL and Rashmi Metaliks exports recorded at 0.46 MnT each.

Port-wise Indian pellet exports in Q1 FY20

Pellet exports from Paradip port witnessed at 1.04 MnT, down 20% as against 1.30 MnT in Q4 FY19. Dharma port exported 0.87 MnT followed by Mangalore at 0.56 MnT .
