Indian Met Coke Imports Down by 30% in June'19

Indian metallurgical coke imports have shown a downfall of 30% in June'19. Met coke imports were recorded as 0.25 million tonnes (MnT) in June'19, as compared to 0.35 MnT in May'19, as per the vessel lineup data compiled by CoalMint Research.

Moreover, on Y-o-Y basis, Met Coke imports have also decreased by 39% from 0.41 MnT which was recorded in the month of June'18.

Country Wise Indian Met Coke Import in June'19:

A country-wise break-up of the monthly import data reveals that the major proportion of the shipments originated from Colombia, accounting for 32% share. Imports from Colombia showed an increase of 100% and on M-o-M basis in the month of June'19.

Met Coke imports from Poland which constituted 26% share of totaled Indian Met coke imports have shown a tremendous decrease of around 22.9% to 0.06 MnT in Jun'19as compared to 0.08 MnT in May'19.

Imports from Indonesia which constituted 15% share of Indian Met coke imports have shown tremendous growth of 97% and remained at 0.03 MnT in June as compared t0 0.01 MnT in May'19.

Imports from China is decreased by 70% and stood at 0.02 MnT in June as compared to 0.09 MnT in May'19.

Imports from Japan were registered at 0.02 MnT in Jun'19. There were no imports seen from Japan to India in May'19.

Imports from Russia have also seen a tremendous decrease of 79%% M-o-M to 0.01 MnT in June'19, against 0.08 MnT in May'19. Russia contributed 7% of the share in total Indian met coke imports.
