Indian Iron Ore Movement Up 34% in Nov'19

As per SteelMint's analysis, iron ore movement across major producing states of the country recorded at 13.26 MnT (excluding exports) in Nov'19 up 34% M-o-M as against 10.99 MnT in Oct'19. The figures are compiled on the basis of movements made via railways, trucks, and Karnataka and import data as per customs. The figures exclude the captive iron ore movement of SAIL & Tata Steel and movement for exports.

State-wise iron ore movement analysis:

Odisha iron ore dispatches increased 34% in Nov'19
Odisha- India's largest iron ore producing state recorded total iron ore dispatches at 8.37 MnT in Nov'19, up 34% on monthly basis as against 6.23 MnT in Oct'19. The figures exclude movement for export and dispatches of miners- SAIL & Tata Steel.

Rungta Mines, India's largest private merchant miner, recorded iron ore dispatches at 2.34 MnT in Nov'19, up 25% as against 1.88 MnT a month ago.

Dispatches from C.G picked up 10% in Nov'19
Iron ore dispatches from Chhattisgarh recorded at 1.82 MnT iron ore in Nov'19, up 10% as against 1.66 MnT in Oct'19.

NMDC (Chhattisgarh) supplied a total 348 rakes (1.34 MnT) of iron ore in the month of Nov'19, up 15% against 303 rakes (1.17 MnT) a month before in Oct'19, according to railway movement data maintained with SteelMint.

Karnataka iron ore E-auction sales fell 7% for the month
Karnataka iron ore e-auction sales volume down for the month and registered a decline of 7% in Nov'19. Total iron ore allotted quantity was recorded at 2.62 MnT in Nov'19 compared to 2.82 MnT in Oct'19.

NMDC was the largest iron ore supplier via Karnataka e-auction and sold 0.92 MnT iron ore via e-auctions in Nov'19, up by 61% M-o-M against 0.57 MnT last month. Out of the total quantity sold by NMDC via e-auction, around 83% of the material purchased by JSW Steel and rest 17% by others. Followed by SMIORE at 0.22 MnT, Iyli Gurunath Iron Ore Mine stood at 0.21 MnT.

Indian iron ore imports recorded at 0.12 MnT in Nov'19
Indian iron ore imports for the month of Nov'19 recorded at 122,345 MT according to the data maintained by SteelMint. The imports have rebounded after being nil for three consecutive months from Aug'19 to Oct'19 amid fall in global iron ore prices.
The entire quantity of 122,345 MT was imported by KIOCL from Canada delivered at Mangalore port.

Indian iron ore exports volumes increased amid rising Chinese demand
Indian iron ore exports in Nov'19 witnessed at 2.29 MnT, up 32% M-o-M as against Oct'19 exports at 1.74 MnT. The export surge is attributed to global material supply crises and falling iron ore inventory at major Chinese ports.
Rungta mines stood the largest iron ore exporter in Nov'19 at 0.82 MnT, up 68% as against 0.49 MnT a month ago. SM Niryat stood second largest exporter at 0.41 MnT, followed by MMTC at 0.28 MnT.

Indian pellet exports surge 33% in Nov'19
Indian pellet export volumes in Nov'19 recorded at 1.17 MnT, up 33% on a monthly basis as against 0.89 MnT a month ago. BRPL marked the largest Indian pellet exporter for the month of Nov'19 at 0.36 MnT, up 42% compared to 0.25 MnT in Oct'19. KIOCL stood second largest exporter at 0.28 MnT followed by Rashmi Metaliks at 0.17 MnT and JSPL at 0.11 MnT.
