Indian Iron Ore Exports Increase in Oct'17 as Goa Miners Resume Export

Indian iron ore exports have increased 73% M-o-M to 0.76 MnT in Oct'17 against 0.44 MnT in Sept'17. However on yearly premises, exports have decreased against 1.62 MnT in Oct'16.
Significant increase in export volumes were noticed from Mormugao port in Oct'17 as Goa iron ore miners namely Vedanta and Fomento Resources resumed exports after monsoon season. Whereas volumes from Paradip and Dharma port decreased resiliently. MMTC remained the largest exporter at 0.23 MnT in Oct'18 followed by Fomento Resources 0.21 MnT and Vedanta 0.17 MnT.
MMTC remained largest iron ore exporter in Oct'17- MMTC (that exports on behalf of NMDC) was the largest exporter in Oct'17 at 0.23 MnT. Other major exporters in Oct'17 were Fomento Resources at 0.21 MnT, Vedanta 0.17 MnT and Kashvi Power and Steel at 0.06 MnT. Iron ore exports from Rungta Mines remained nil in Oct'17.
Vietnam imported Indian iron ore in Oct'17- China contributed for share of 63% (0.48 MnT) of total iron ore exported from India in Oct'17. Other major destinations were Japan (0.15 MnT), South Korea (0.08 MnT) and Vietnam (0.06 MnT).
Port-wise iron ore exports from India in Oct'17 - Mormugao port accounted for largest share at 0.38 MnT in Oct'17 followed by Vizag (0.23) MnT, Paradeep (0.11 MnT) and Haldia (0.05 MnT).
