Indian Chrome Ore Production Decreases Substantially by 60% in Apr'17

Odisha contributes almost entirely towards chrome ore production in India. Chrome ore production in Odisha has been recorded at 0.36 MnT in Apr'17. It is about 60% below the production witnessed in Mar'17.
Production by captive miners recorded a substantial decrease of around 23% M-o-M. FACOR is the only organization which registered a huge increase in its Chrome Ore production, by around 89%. On the other hand, all other producers have witnessed decrease in their production. IMFA produced almost 52% less chrome ore in Apr'17 against Mar'17 as two of its Chromite mines have been served closure notice for violation of pollution norms.
TATA Steel, one of the largest merchant miners in the country, registered a fall of 20% M-o-M in its production. Moreover, OMC recorded a massive decrease of almost 98% in its production on M-o-M basis. Among merchant miners, B.C. Mohanty and Sons is the only miner that witnessed an increase of 23% M-o-M production. However, production by merchant miners came down by 67% M-o-M in Apr'17.
