Indian Bulk Billet Exports Increase by Two Fold in CY19

India bulk billet and bloom export shipments were recorded at 1.38 MnT to book a Y-o-Y growth of 92% during CY19. The same were at 723,900 MT during CY18. During the first half of CY19, the exports were observed almost parallel with CY18 on M-o-M basis. Amid rising demand in SE Asia supported by environmental production curbs and ban on scrap imports in China has elevated the bulk billet exports from the country. During the second half of CY19, India's bulk billet exports were recorded around 4 folds; a Y-o-Y increase of 262%, against corresponding to same period of CY18. However, during first half of CY19, the country's bulk billet exports registered a Y-o-Y growth of 5%.
Meanwhile, country has booked an M-o-M growth of 145% during Dec'19 with 3,52,110 MT billet & bloom exports against 1,43,602 MT during Nov'19.
Company wise billet/bloom exports in Dec'19 - RINL, SAIL, JSPL and JSW stood among the major exporters during Dec'19.Below table indicates the company wise exports.

China remained the largest destination for Indian bulk billet/bloom exports - China remained the largest importer of Indian bulk billets and bloom with imports of 96,000 MT. Other major destinations were Sri Lanka, Philippines etc.
