Indian Bulk Billet Exports Fall by 50% in Nov'19

Indian bulk billet export shipments observed a fall of 50% in Nov'19. According to data maintained with SteelMint, Indian bulk billet & bloom exports were recorded at 0.14 MnT in Nov'19 against 0.286 MnT in Oct'19. These figures do not include exports made to Nepal.

After aggressive export shipments made in Sept & Oct'19, major Indian mills have reported fall in inventories in Nov'19. Amid low demand in SE Asia supported by piled up inventories at Chinese ports during Nov'19 had resulted in acute drop of billet exports from the country. According to data maintained with SteelMint, except Sri Lanka, all other regular Indian billet importing nations recorded a drop in billet imports. Sri Lanka's imports for Indian billets were recorded at 26,470 MT to register a M-o-M growth of 76% in Nov'19.

China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand stood the major Indian billet importing nations during Nov'19. SAIL, JSPL, JSW Steel and RINL were the major Indian billet exporting companies during Nov'19.
