India's zinc imports were recorded at 23,057 tonnes (t) in November 2022, down by 12% m-o-m as against 26,245 t in October, as per customs data maintained with SteelMint.
Sub-commodity wise imports: Imports of semi-finished products went down by 21% m-o-m to 14,961 t in November while those of scrap moved up by 12% m-o-m to 8,096 t.
Country-wise imports: South Korea was the largest exporter of zinc to India with 7,469 t in November, down 27% m-o-m from 10,173 t in October. Japan was the second largest exporter at 4,223 t, up 38% m-o-m followed by USA at 1,490 t, up 6% m-o-m.
Exports down marginally by 2% m-o-m
Zinc exports from India were recorded at 31,043 tonnes (t) in November, edging down by 2% m-o-m as against 31,827 t in October, data showed.
Sub-commodity wise exports: The export volume of ores/concentrates was down by 59% m-o-m to 1,540 t in the month under review compared to 3,760 t in October. Exports of semi-finished products went up by 5% m-o-m to 29,503 t.
Country-wise exports: Malaysia was the largest importer of zinc from India with 4,508 t in November, up by a whopping 144% m-o-m from 1,846 t in October. Exports to Indonesia surged by 123% m-o-m to 3,537 t while shipments to South Korea were down by 49% m-o-m to 2,541 t.
