India: Zinc imports, exports rise m-o-m in Oct'22

India's zinc imports and exports increased m-o-m in October 2022, as per customs data.

Imports

• Zinc imports were recorded at 26,245 tonnes (t) in October against 21,366 t in September, up by 23% m-o-m.
  
  
• Out of this, imports of semi-finished products were at 19,033 t (up 44%) and scrap at 7,212 t (down 11%).
  
  

Country-wise imports-

• Imports from South Korea increase: South Korea was the largest exporter of zinc to India at 10,173 t in October, a rise of 16% m-o-m from 8,754 t in September.
  
  

• Imports from Japan up: Imports from Japan rose by 14% m-o-m to 3,060 t against 2,690 t in September.
  
  

• Imports from USA rise: Imports from USA dropped marginally by 6% m-o-m to 1,399 t in October from 1,488 t in September.
  
  

Exports

• Zinc exports were recorded at 31,827 t in October against 24,793 t in September, up by 28% m-o-m.
  
  
• Out of this, the export volume of ores/concentrates were at 3,760 t (down 31%) and semi-finished products at 28,067 t (up 28%).
  
  

Country-wise exports-

• Exports to South Korea up: South Korea was the largest importer of zinc from India with 4,961 t in October, up by 40% m-o-m from 3,556 t in September.
  
  

• Exports to UAE inch up: India exported 3,039 t to the UAE in October, rising by 9% m-o-m from 2,797 t in September.
  
  

• Exports to Taiwan increase: Exports to Taiwan increased by 34% m-o-m to 2,393 t in October from 1,790 t in September.
