India: TATA Steel BSL Suspends Operation Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

Tata Steel BSL Ltd has announced a suspension of activities at its downstream facilities and CRM mill in Angul due to constraints arising due to COVID-19 outbreak.

-- The company, keeping in purview its various stakeholders and the community as a whole has announced a suspension of activities at few of its downstream facilities and service centres, which are listed below-

- Khopoli, Chakan and Aurangabad in Maharashtra.
- Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh.
- Manesar in Haryana.
- Ludhiana in Punjab.

-- Along with this, the operations at the Cold Rolling Mill and downstream units at the Angul have also been suspended and the steelmaking facilities in the region shall be working well below the operational capacity. If sources are to be believed, production has come down by 50%.

-- Also, the company affirmed that it is closely watching the developments in the nation, and shall ramp-up production as when the conditions improve.
