India: TATA Metaliks Suspends Operations on Safety Measures

TATA Metaliks Limited (TML) one of the largest foundry grade pig iron manufacturers in eastern India, has shut down its operations w.e.f. 28th Mar'20.

As per company's notification, on foremost priority of health & safety of employees due to fear of COVID-19, it has suspended operations till further notification for Pig iron & DI Pipe production at its Kharagpur, West bengal based plant.

A subsidiary of domestic steel giant Tata Steel, Tata Metaliks has hot metal installed capacity of about 5 lakh tone p.a., in which the production of DI pipe is about 2 lakh tone p.a. and about 3 lakh tone hot metal convert in to pig iron.

In addition to it, SteelMint learned from it's credible sources that other private pig iron producers in east & central India have also suspended their operations. Names of such plants are mentioned below.
