India: Tata Bhushan Steel Iron Ore and Pellet Sourcing Up 22% in Feb'20

Tata Bhushan Steel - a major integrated steelmaker with a capacity of 5.6 MnT has recorded iron ore & pellet sourcing at 0.45 MnT in Feb'20, increased 22% as against 0.37 MnT in Jan'20.

Bhushan steel total iron ore sourcing for the month stood at 0.43 MnT, up 22% against 0.36 MnT in Jan'20.

Tata Steel supplies have increased by 5% for the month to 0.32 MnT as against 0.30 MnT a month ago.

State-owned miner- OMC supplied 114,607 MT iron ore to the steelmaker in Feb'20, up sharply as compared to 52,356 MT in Jan'20. Sourcing from KJS Ahluwalia mines recorded 5% rise to 587 MT.

Amid lowered bookings Odisha based miners have reduced prices recently. Essel Mining decreased its offers by INR 400/MT for high grade iron ore lumps w.e.f 18th Mar'20. Serajuddin decreased lumps prices twice by around INR 1,000/MT in a week's time for 5-18 mm (Fe 63%) to INR 4,000/MT (ex-mines, including Royalty, DMF, & NMET). KJS Ahluwalia and Kaypee enterprices also reduced its iron ore lumps offer by INR 400-500/MT yesterday (19th Mar).

Bhushan Steel pellet sourcing picked up 25% in Feb'20
The pellet sourcing by the steelmaker recorded at 19,250 MT for the month of Feb'20, as against 15,400 MT a month ago. Out of the total sourcing, 60% of total stood from MSP Sponge ltd at 11,550 MT and remaining from Arya Iron and Steel at 7,700 MT (down 50% M-o-M).

Tata Steel BSL is planning to expand Bhushan steel capacity from 5.6 MnT to 8.3 MnT. They are also planning to enhance production at its captive iron ore mines around Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar.
