The Indian sponge iron market showed mixed trends, with prices increasing in Ramgarh, Bellary and Hyderabad by INR 50-100/t but dropping by INR 150-400/t in other locations.
Buying activity remained subdued as buyers were hesitant due to previous bookings and the stability of the market, expecting it to fall further.
PDRI prices at close of trading today were assessed at INR 27,400-28,900/t and CDRI prices at INR 28,850-33,300/t.
South African RB2 coal non-coking coal prices moved upward by INR 200/t. RB2 (5500 NAR) exw Gangavaram stood at INR 9,600/t.
Approximately 8,870 tonnes (t) of sponge iron transactions were recorded in the country on Monday compared to 8,750 t on 4 October.

Prices have been derived based on transactions, offers, bids and indicative price data sets. Transactions are considered as T1 and given a weightage of 50% whereas other data sets are considered as T2 and given a weightage of the balance 50%.
