India sets final dumping duties on coated steel

India has imposed final anti-dumping duties on flat-rolled steel coated with an alloy of aluminium and zinc imported from China, South Korea and Vietnam for a period of five years that started on 15 October 2019.

These duties were proposed by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies on 15 July 2019 after investigation of an anti-dumping complaint by JSW Coated Steel Products and provisional duties were notified in the Gazette of India on 15 October 2019. The final duties, notified on Tuesday, are lower than the ones imposed on 15 October.

Duties will not be applicable on flat sheet coated with only aluminium or zinc and colour-coated aluminium-zinc alloy sheet.

The final duty on coated steel imported from South Korea's largest steelmaker Posco, Dongkuk and Dongbu Steel would be $56.96/t, $14.3/t and $13.07/t respectively while it will be at $84.47/t for most Korean producers.

Duty on Vietnam's Tong Dong, Hoa Sen, Tay Nam and Nam Kim's exports would be $23.63, $46.87, $48.96 and $81.30 respectively while other producers from Vietnam would pay a duty of $173.1/t.

China's Zhejiang Huada would pay a duty of $56.48 while other Chinese producers will pay $128.93/t.
